Kurt-Eisner-Straße
The railroad depot, which closed in 1952, and freight traffic shaped the urban area south of the Bayerischer Bahnhof for decades. Until its closure in 2001, there were several signal boxes and extensive track systems on which passenger and freight trains were assembled. The complete dismantling of the old railroad facilities in the course of the construction of the City Tunnel offers sufficient space for new uses and ideas in the context of sustainable and ecological urban development. Leipzig’s lively southern suburbs have growth potential and space for innovative educational concepts.
