Dösner Weg South
Bavarian Railway Station Leipzig
The railroad depot, which closed in 1952, and freight traffic shaped the urban area south of the Bayerischer Bahnhof for decades. Until its closure in 2001, there were several signal boxes and extensive track systems on which passenger and freight trains were assembled. The complete dismantling of the old railroad facilities in the course of the construction of the City Tunnel offers sufficient space for new uses and ideas in the context of sustainable and ecological urban development.
Learning and living
This area is located in the middle of the new district. To the north of Semmelweisstrasse (sub-area 7a) and directly at the MDR S-Bahn stop, it is bordered to the west by the railroad line and to the east by Dösner Weg. The urban development contract provides for the construction of a school campus in sub-area 7.
The development context in the transition to the existing residential complex on Straße des 18. Oktober / Messemagistrale is significant in this quarter.
