Lots of greenery, plenty of space for people and nature
The district park south of the Portikus
The railroad depot, which closed in 1952, and freight traffic shaped the urban area south of the Bayerischer Bahnhof for decades. Until its closure in 2001, there were several signal boxes and extensive track systems on which passenger and freight trains were assembled. The complete dismantling of the old railroad facilities in 2005 offers sufficient space for a publicly usable park that runs from north to south through the entire urban area as part of a sustainable and ecological development.
The district park
Recreational space, footpath and cycle path network, urban ecological quality
A green ribbon runs from north to south and connects all areas of the project developers’ development site. Designing a district park that is equally valuable for people and nature is therefore a real joint task. Connected by a network of paths linking the area, this area will offer the highest possible urban ecological quality. Implementation will be carried out in sections and coordinated with the individual construction projects.
