In 2011 an open space and urban competition for the „Stadtraum Bayerischer Bahnhof” was conducted. The condition was to develop a sustainable, urban and open space concept, which is the foundation for further development steps (master planning, urban land-use planning). The special focus has become the idea of a district park, which is the foundation for the area development. The architects Wessendorf Architektur Städtebau and Atelier Loidl Landschaftsarchitekten won the competition. Based on their concept, further development of the area started.
For the implementation of development in the urban room Bayerischer Bahnhof there are common planning goals. Due to the ownership structure, the city of Leipzig is negotiating with the two project sponsors Stadtbau AG und der BUWOG Bauträger GmbH. The urban contracts already got closed in November 2018 and got more defined through further urban agreements made in March 2019 (SV 02.01 und SV 02.02). The Stadtbau AG is mainly responsible for the development of offices and commercial areas. For the realisation of most of the apartments at the Lößniger Straße and Dösner Weg the Stadbau AG got a strong and sustainable Partner: The residential construction company BUWOG Bauträger GmbH.

Stadtbau AG was set up in 1991 and converted into a stock company in 1998. Its core competencies are refurbishing and modernising historic buildings, conversion and revitalization of existing buildings and turn-key construction of residential and commercial buildings.

Stadtbau AG was involved in the following projects: Handelshof, Brunnenviertel in Lindenau-Leutzsch, Hotel de Pologne in the Hainstraße, Europahaus at Augustusplatz as well as Kretschmann ’s Hof .
